Since the official opening of fantasy baseball mocks on Dec. 3, 2007, Mock Draft Central users have participated in a record-smashing number of practice drafts. This past week has been sizzling hot, with full mock drafts running at all times of the day. Every Friday, The Mock Market Report will highlight the biggest movers and shakers from hundreds of completed drafts.
A .125 batting average in 40 spring at-bats has many shying away from Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks. Even more worrisome than the average: the youngster has 20 strikeouts -- a whiff every other plate appearance. Over the last seven days, Weeks has lost nearly a round off his Average Draft Position (ADP), 9.3 percent of his overall value.
A second base eligible player gaining value is Yunel Escobar of the Atlanta Braves. The 25-year-old -- who is also eligible at shortstop and third base -- has gained a whopping 12.3 percent of value on his ADP this week. As a result of the two-round jump, Escobar finds himself within the top-200 players drafted.
The weekly Albert Pujols update: Believe or not, the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman gained value this week, moving up 5.5 percent. It appears that 10th overall will be his final positioning, slightly ahead of Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder.
Saturday`s news of Los Angeles Angels pitcher John Lackey being out until mid-May with a strained triceps has knocked 18.1 percent off his ADP. The market is still setting a value on the wounded ace, who has been drafted as late as 103rd overall in recent drafts.
Making their ADP report debuts this week, a trio of young hurlers: Cincinnati Reds pitchers Johnny Cueto (ADP: 329.74) and Edinson Volquez (ADP: 331.35), and Brewers pitcher Manny Parra (ADP: 332.45).
