Since the official opening of Fantasy Football mocks on April 28, Mock Draft Central (MDC) users have participated in a record-smashing number of practice drafts. This past week was sizzling hot, with full mock drafts running at all times of the day.

Today, The Mock Market Report will focus on the impact of this week`s two biggest stories: the possible return of quarterback Brett Favre and running back Kevin Jones signing with the Chicago Bears.

Favre makes his 2008 debut on MDC`s Average Draft Position (ADP) report at 174th overall after two weeks of drama regarding a comeback to the NFL. After a 28-touchdown 2007 season, many drafters see Favre as a risk worth taking come the teen rounds.

Surprisingly, Favre`s move up draft boards hasn`t negatively affected the value of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose value increased 1.1 percent this week.

The quarterback in Favre`s other likely destination, Tarvaris Jackson of the Minnesota Vikings, has also seen an increase in ADP with a 0.6 percent gain.

A looming Favre return has done little to the value of Green Bay`s skill players, as running back Ryan Grant, and wide receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver have lost between 0.4 and 1.1 percent of their value.

The ending of the Favre saga is still in doubt. For the time being, drafters are taking a wait-and-see approach when it comes to the draft value of those who will be affected by the three-time MVP`s playing status.

Drafters are also waiting to react on Jones` move to the Windy City after reports he could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Though the recovering veteran has seen a 15.2 percent spike in ADP since Tuesday`s news, the value of the Bears` projected starting running back, Matt Forte, has remained relatively unchanged. The rookie from Tulane lost 0.9 percent of his ADP this week, but remains the 64th player selected.

Backup Adrian Peterson`s value remained unaffected as well. The seventh-year pro added 2.2 percent -- roughly five selections -- to his ADP this week.

This has been The Mock Market Report for Friday, July 18 2008.
